The conference opening the realisation of the task ‘Folk Culture Trail of Suwalszczyzna (EtnoSuwalszczyzna)’ is behind us. How important tradition is, the traces of our ancestors preserved in creativity, craftsmanship and tastes, is evidenced by the turnout for this event on 29 July 2024 in the Hall of the State Archives in Suwałki. The assumptions of the project, presented by Cezary Cieślukowski, Chairman of the Convention, were met with an enthusiastic response from the artists present. Representatives of local government, cultural institutions and non-governmental organisations also saw opportunities in the project. It turns out that the seemingly light topic of folk culture in the Suwałki Region needs to be inventoried and systematised. The activities of the Euroregion Niemen Association aim to develop cooperation between stakeholders from the Augustów, Sejny and Suwałki poviats, create their network and develop a common brand and strategy. The first steps taken allow us to forecast that the numerous group of local patriots who bring energy, talent and expertise to the project will allow us to professionally implement the intended activities without diminishing the joy of their implementation.

The public task named: “Trail of folk culture of Suwalszczyzna (EtnoSuwalszczyzna)” is financed from the funds of the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
